How To Make A Blog

Blogging is profitable. It’s easier and more lucrative to make a blog on niche topics than going head to head against experienced competitors with deep pockets.

The powerful information about how to make a blog in this report could be worth $100, $500 or even $20,000 to you… if you act on it.

All information is trimmed to the bone – there’s no fluff at all. You can
read it in one quick sitting. What’s even better is that the system it teaches is simple enough to be set up in just a few hours!

Ready to begin?

Step 1 – Find Your Niche

Pick your niche and keywords based on how you intend to profit from your new niche blog.

If Adsense will be your primary profit center, then look for keywords that will pay you more money per click – and that have good search counts and low competition (you’ll learn details in any good keyword research tutorial).

If you plan to make a blog to sell products or services as an affiliate, then look at those which pay out a fair commission per sale, and have a sales process that will convert many prospects into buyers. Oh, and be sure the product itself is in demand and fills a need.

There’s so much more we can talk about regarding niche selection to make a blog. But we won’t – because this is SIMPLE niche blogging. Just pick a niche with decent potential and start blogging. If you’d like to learn more about niche research, then get my ebook, “Which Niche Will Make YOU Rich?”

Regardless of what niche you enter, an important element of Simple Niche Blogging that you cannot afford to ignore is keyword research.

A simple rule of thumb is to pick keywords to make a blog that have search volumes of higher than 70 ‘exact match’ searches per day, SEOV of at least a few dollars (higher is better) and competition (SEOTR) is below 20,000.

A powerful software tool that compiles this data for you automatically is Market Samurai. You can read a detailed Market Samurai review here, or take it on a free trial for 1 month – click here.

Once you have chosen a niche and keyword to make a blog, buy a domain name that includes the primary keywords in it. Try and get only .com, .net or .org domains and don’t buy other extensions like .info or .biz

When an exact match domain name is not available, see if domain names with hyphens between words are available, or if adding words like ‘tips’, ‘ideas’ or ‘secrets’ to the end will help. The primary keywords should be in front of the domain, not at the middle or end.

e.g., if your keyword is ‘roman blinds’, then good choices for domain names will be:

romanblinds.com
romanblinds.net
romanblinds.org

roman-blinds.com
romanblindsideas.com
roman-blinds-secrets.com

Less than ideal choices would be:

romanblinds.info
bestromanblinds.com

Step 2 – Set Up a Blog

If you prefer a different blogging platform to make a blog, suit your taste – but I highly recommending WordPress blogs hosted on your own server.

Many web hosts, including the web hosting provider I use and recommend, offer cPanel access which allows you to install a WordPress blog with just a few clicks on your mouse by using Fantastico (or other server software).

You could get fancy and try out custom themes for blogging sites like Profits Theme that are specially optimized and customized to make a blog for ecommerce. Or you could just set up the default WordPress theme and work with it.

One simple thing you can do to set your blog apart from others and make it unique is to add a nice header image that’s specific to your niche.

This doesn’t have to be an expensive affair. There are some very talented designers on Fiverr.com who will create one for you – at the modest charge of $5. Just search for ‘header banner’ or ‘blog header’ and you’ll find many choices to make a blog.

An important step to take next is to install certain plug ins to your WordPress blog that will help you optimize it for better ranking on search engines, and allow you to manage your content easily.

Here’s a short list of the plug ins I recommend to make a blog:

1. Akismet – Helps fight spam and prevents your site dropping on search engines because of junk comments.

2. All in One SEO – A free plug-in that optimizes your blog for search engines and handles issues like meta tag creation, canonical URLs and other stuff for you hands-free.

3. Google Sitemap Creator – Automatically generates an XML sitemap for you blog that can be submitted to Google Webmaster Tools for quicker indexing and ranking.

4. WP-Shortstat – Gives you an indication of how much traffic your blog is getting, and where it comes from. If you prefer, you can use other tracking tools like Google Analytics.

5. Digi Auto Links – Helps build back links to your blog on auto-pilot – and also ‘hijacks’ traffic from top blogs in your niche.

6. Social plug ins – These help share your blog’s content across social networks with a click, spreading your links far and wide across the blogosphere. The essential ones to make a blog are:

* Facepress
* TweetThis or Twitter Tools
* Onlywire

7. Related posts – This helps increase ‘stickiness’ of your blog visitors by presenting them with other relevant content to consume.

Step 3 – Create Your Content

You have many choices when it comes to creating your blog’s content. All of them involve developing content that is useful to your niche audience, of good quality, original and unique.

You can choose between:

* writing or recording your own content
* hiring someone to create it for you
* buying PLR content and modifying it

Here are some guidelines to follow when you make a blog.

Keep your content search-engine friendly.

  • make your articles at least 600 words long, preferably 800 to 900 words
  • optimize your content for keywords, aiming for a density of 2% or so
  • search for ‘related keywords’ and sprinkle them through your content
  • use your primary keyword in the first and last paragraphs

But…

  • DO NOT write keyword-optimized junk articles, keep your content focused on HUMAN readers
  • provide valuable information that your niche audience is looking for
